Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
